Privacy Policy for Munchy

Introduction

Munchy (“we”, “our”, or “the extension”) is a browser extension that generates curated YouTube video sessions based on topics and duration chosen by the user. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

Data Collection and Storage

What We Collect

Munchy collects and stores the following data locally on your device only:

• YouTube Data API key — provided by you, stored locally to make YouTube search requests on your behalf.
• Anthropic API key (optional) — provided by you, stored locally to generate AI video summaries on your behalf.
• Session history — the last 10 generated sessions (niche, video list, duration) stored locally for quick access.
• Favorite niches — topic names you choose to save as shortcuts.
• Watched videos — video IDs of content you have already watched, used to avoid repetition in future sessions.
• User preferences — default session duration, filter settings (recency, language, video length, minimum views).

What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect any personally identifiable information (name, email, location, etc.).
• We do not transmit any data to our own servers. Munchy has no backend.
• We do not share any data with third parties.
• We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind.

Third-Party Services

When you use Munchy, your YouTube API key is used to make requests directly to the YouTube Data API v3 (operated by Google LLC). These requests are subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.

If you optionally configure an Anthropic API key, video titles and descriptions are sent to the Anthropic API to generate summaries. This is subject to Anthropic’s Privacy Policy.

Munchy opens YouTube (youtube.com) in your browser to play curated video sessions. Your interaction with YouTube is governed by YouTube’s Terms of Service.

Data Security

All data stored by Munchy is kept in chrome.storage.local, which is sandboxed to the extension and not accessible by websites or other extensions. Your API keys are never transmitted to any server other than the respective API provider (Google/Anthropic).

Data Deletion

You can delete all data stored by Munchy at any time by:

• Removing the extension from Chrome (chrome://extensions → Remove)
• Or clearing the extension’s storage manually via Chrome DevTools

Children’s Privacy

Munchy does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The extension does not target minors.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
